OL-City Venice
17.11.2009 21:35 clock
This year I was back in the simOLfan trip to Venice while and I was looking forward to the herumfetzen in the winding streets of Venice.
Just on Saturday, there was already the Park-O in the easier part of the city on the island of Sant Elena. The train was rather easy and I managed a good run up to an uncertainty in the park for Item 3 and the running away from the post I took some got the wrong direction and thus a few seconds. Finally, I was - although I had not pushed - 5 in the main class, only 1:20 behind Graham Gristwood.
Then the actual city-OL was in the program. Was launched by the Salute, we were carried over by boat. As the departure date in relation to the start time was very early, I was like many others are trying to stay warm for some time. These are offered to the church (in that it was not, however, much warmer than outside), where I listened to before the start a fair.

3rd Erik, first Oskar Sjöberg, 2 Henrik Sulz
But now to the OL. We are expecting a tricky course setting by which I had to read along and hardly ever came to read. That was my race pace OL-technically limited and when the long route choice I pondered for some time, saw all three alternatives, but then I decided on the more intuitive for the station. During the race I was fairly sure to have chosen the right one, but when I have a few minutes was the way I thought that perhaps the detour was too tough (540m, about 20% longer than the Optimalroute, 50% longer than the distance) . Despite my high speed run, I could not compensate for this Extraweg lost on this leg of an estimated 1.5 min (1min on the fastest time in M20).
So I had to get to the third Space content, 20 seconds behind Oscar Sjöberg and 16 sec behind Henrik. Nevertheless, I am quite happy with the result, even back out there this year was very tight.

Nice analyze! Good route choice on 18th control, maybe the green one is shorter, but i think that your choice is faster!

Hey,
Thanks. The route choice seems good at the first view but it's really bad - maybe 1.5 minutes slower than the straight one even if you push the whole way. There were a lot of people on the ferrovia-street and I had to make some short stops. I think it's the best in general to take the shortest route choice in Venice. Check Øystein Kvaal Østerbø's map he ran straight and had 10:48. Impressive.
